The short version: PhiloMath does not require an account. Player profiles and game progress are stored locally on the device unless the player or guardian deliberately exports a backup.
1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the PhiloMath mobile application (the “App”) and promotional website handle information. PhiloMath is developed by Tristan Rosales (“PhiloMath,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
2. Information entered in the App
During onboarding and play, a player may enter or create:
- A name or nickname, age, Guardian username, and selected Owl avatar.
- Challenge answers, scores, skill mastery, completed adventures, achievements, rank, rewards, and daily streak.
- Sound, music, haptic, accessibility, and gameplay preferences.
- A local challenge session used to resume an unfinished game.
This information is saved in the App's local storage on the device. The current App does not send it to a PhiloMath account or cloud database.
3. Information we collect
PhiloMath does not operate an advertising network, behavioral tracking system, or player-profile cloud. We do not automatically receive the player's answers, age, username, scores, or progress.
Apple, Google, the device manufacturer, or an app store may independently process technical information related to downloading, updating, crash reporting, purchases, or reviews under their own privacy policies.
4. Device features and permissions
PhiloMath uses device audio for music and sound effects and may use haptic feedback when enabled. The App does not need microphone access and does not record audio. File access is used only when the player or guardian chooses a location through the system picker to export or import an adventure backup.
5. Backups
A backup is created only after a player or guardian requests one. The user chooses where it is saved or shared. Backups can contain the local profile and progress described above, so they should be stored securely. We cannot access or recover a backup saved with another app or storage provider.
6. How local information is used
The App processes local data to personalize onboarding, select appropriate challenge difficulty, restore progress, calculate XP and ranks, unlock worlds, evaluate achievements, maintain streaks, remember settings, and resume an unfinished session.
7. Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information or share player progress with advertisers or data brokers. Information leaves the App only when the user deliberately exports or shares a backup, or when applicable law requires disclosure and we possess responsive information.
8. Retention and deletion
App data remains on the device until it is edited, cleared through Settings, removed by uninstalling the App, or deleted by the operating system. Because we do not hold a cloud copy, we cannot restore deleted data unless the user previously created a compatible backup.
9. Security
PhiloMath relies on platform storage protections and the device's security features. No storage method is completely secure. Guardians should protect the device with an appropriate passcode and keep exported backups in a trusted location.
10. Children's privacy
PhiloMath is designed for learners including children, but it does not require a cloud account and does not knowingly collect children's personal information on our servers. Guardians should help younger players choose a nickname that does not reveal unnecessary personal information and supervise backup sharing.
11. Website information
This promotional website does not include an account, advertising tracker, player database, or contact form. Hosting providers may process routine technical request data such as IP address, browser type, and access time for security and delivery purposes under their own terms.
12. Changes
We may update this policy when the App, legal requirements, or distribution changes. The updated effective date will appear on this page.
